How to make a Queen of Hearts Wheat Eye Mask

Show your love of sewing in a fun new way with the Queen of Hearts Wheat Eye Mask Project! This project combines the AQ55325 GO! Queen of Hearts Die, the AQ55612 GO! Eye Mask Die and the GO! Queen of Hearts Embroidery Pattern by V-Stitch Designs.

This eye mask is perfect for all kinds of special occasions and gifts. You will be sure to fall in love with the cute project that’s great for all skill levels.

Materials:

  1. AccuQuilt GO! Big, GO!, GO! Baby or GO! Me Fabric Cutter
  2. AQ55325 GO! Queen of Hearts Die
  3. AQ55612 GO! Eye Mask Die
  4. GO! Queen of Hearts Embroidery Pattern by V-Stitch Designs
  5. AccuQuilt GO! Cutting Mat 6” x 6”
  6. (2) 25cm (10”) x 13cm (5”) Fabric rectangles
  7. Wheat to add to bag
  8. Embroidery machine – I used a Singer EM9305
  9. Fabric for applique with fusible web attached
  10. Cotton Embroidery threads to match
  11. Tearaway stabiliser

HINT: When using my Singer EM9305 sewing machine, I love to use my Metal Hoop. The Metal hoop not only allows for quick and easy hooping, but the fabric is also not damaged in the process. You can also use your iron without the fear of melting or damaging your hoop.

NOTE: Due to the item going into the microwave, it is recommended all products being 100% cotton

Heart Applique:

  1. Set your sewing machine to embroidery mode as per instructions.
  2. Using AQ55325 GO! Queen of Hearts die, cut 2 x small hearts.
  3. Mark the placement position of your design on your fabric. Hoop with tearaway with your preferred method
  4. Attach hoop to your machine
  5. Select two small heart designs and arrange in your preferred way.
  6. Follow instructions included with the design to embroider.
  7. Once completed, remove from machine and hoop. Tidy up any loose threads and remove excess tearaway.

Eye Mask Construction:

  1. Lay (1) 10” x 5” piece of lining right side up on table in front of you.

  1. Lay (1) 10” x 5” piece of outer fabric on top of lining, right sides together.
  2. Place the two layers on GO! Eye Mask Die, cover with mat and cut.
  3. Pin all pieces together and sew using a ¼” seam allowance around the mask, leaving a 2” opening for turning. See picture 2.

  1. Clip curves, turn mask right side out. Press all edges
  2. Fill with a small quantity of wheat.
  3. Hand sew the opening closed and or topstitch if desired.
