Scrap Buster Blocks Sampler Quilt – Finishing the Quilt

Scrap Buster Blocks is a series of scrap quilt block tutorials that are designed to bust through your scraps with the AccuQuilt GO! QUBE Mix & Match block sets. I’ve shared 12 different block designs so far that will make good use of the scraps collecting in your drawers. And now it’s time to make a rainbow sampler quilt from them!

These are the instructions for 12” sampler blocks; quilt finishes at 44” x 58”.

Materials:

  1. AccuQuilt GO! Big, GO! Cutter or GO! Baby Cutter Fabric Starter Set
  2. AQ55776 GO! Mix & Match Qube 8” Shape 2 Square – 2” Finished
  3. AQ55017 GO! Strip Cutter – 2 1/2″ (2″ Finished)
  4. AQ55137 GO! Cutting Mat 6″ x 6″
  5. AQ55113 GO! Cutting Mat 10” x 24”
  6. Assorted prints and background fabrics
  7. Rotary mat, cutter, and ruler
  8. General sewing equipment

Cutting Instructions:

  1. From prints:
    • Using Shape 2, cut twenty Squares
  2. From background fabrics:
    • Using strip cutter, cut Strips:
      • Then use rotary cutter to subcut or trim into 31 – 2 ½” x 12 ½” Strips

Sewing Instructions:

NOTE: All seams are ¼”, (6mm). Press seams open.

  1. Arrange the blocks into a 3 x 4 grid layout. Place a background strip on each edge of each block and place a print Square between each Strip.

  1. Sew into rows – five Squares and Strip rows, and four Strip and block rows. Press seams.
  2. Sew the rows together, and press seams.
