How to Die Cut 4-Colour Nine Patch Blocks

For best cutting results, position the fabric along the lengthwise grain (straight of grain) as it passes under the roller. The die is specially designed to cut one complete 4-colour, 9" finished block in a single pass through the cutter. The measurements below are approximate cutting measurements for each shape. Refer to the assembly instructions for your chosen block for specific cutting instructions.

• Shape A: Cut a 4 1/2" strip across the width of fabric (WOF) and fanfold into 4 1/2" widths over the shape.
• Shape B: Cut a 4 3/8" strip across the WOF and fanfold into 4 3/8" widths over the shape.
• Shape C: Cut a 4 3/4" strip across the WOF and fanfold into 4 3/4" widths over the shape.
• Shape D: Cut a 4 1/8" x 3" rectangle. Place it right side up or down over the shape.
• Shape E: Cut a 2 7/8" strip across the WOF and fanfold into 2 7/8" widths over the shape.
• Shape F: Cut a 4" strip across the WOF and fanfold into 4" widths over the shape.

• With some fabrics, a thread or two may remain where the die blades meet after cutting. Snip any loose threads with scissors.
• The blades on some dies are positioned at an angle. Align the fabric with the edge of the shape, rather than the edge of the die board.
• Use good-quality fabric to reduce stretching.
• It's always a good idea to test-cut one shape before cutting multiple shapes to ensure the fabric is positioned correctly.
