Scrap Busting Modern Sampler – Finishing

Materials:

  1. AccuQuilt GO! Big or GO! Fabric Cutter
  2. AQ55775 GO! Qube Mix & Match 6” Block
  3. AQ55779 GO! Qube 6” Companion Set- Classic
  4. AQ55788 GO! Qube 6” Companion Set – Angles
  5. AQ55086 GO! Strip Cutter – 6 ½” (6” Finished) OR
  6. AQ55000 GO! Square- 6 ½” (6” Finished)
  7. AQ55017 GO! Strip Cutter – 2 ½” (2” Finished)
  8. AQ55113 GO! Cutting Mat 10” x 24”
  9. 2.2m of the main fabric
  10. An assortment of colours for blocks. I used my scrap basket. Measurements in each block instruction.
  11. 1.8m x 1.8m of Backing fabric
  12. 1.8m x 1.8m of Wadding
  13. Sewing Machine
  14. Matching Sewing thread
  15. General Sewing Tools

Cutting Instructions:

From the ‘Let’s Get Started’ instructions, you should have cut out the following:

  1. From main fabric if using strip cutter:
    • Cut (3) 20” x Width of Fabric (WOF)
      • Using AQ55086 GO! Strip Cutter – 6 ½” (6” Finished), fanfold fabric to cut (9) strips for backing fabric
    • From remaining fabric
      • Using AQ55017 GO! Strip Cutter – 2½” (” Finished), fanfold these to cut (8) strips for binding.
  2. Cross cut this fabric as follows:
    From the 6 ½” strips previously cut:
    • Strip 1
      • Cut (1) 6 ½” x 30 ½” strip
      • Cut (1) 6 ½” x 6 ½” square
    • Strip 2
      • Cut (1) 6 ½” x 24 ½” strip
      • Cut (1) 6 ½” x 12 ½” strip
    • Strip 3
      • Cut (2) 6 ½” x 18 ½” strips
    • Strip 4, 5 & 6
      • Cut (3) 6 ½” x 12 ½” strips
    • Strip 7
      • Cut (2) 6 ½” x 12 ½” strips
      • Cut (2) 6 ½” x 6 ½” square
    • Strip 8
      • Cut (6) 6 ½” x 6 ½” square
    • Strip 9
      • Cut (3) 6 ½” x 6 ½” square

Sewing Instructions:

All seams are ¼” unless otherwise specified.

  1. Following the diagram below, layout the blocks in the order below.
  1. Selecting the blocks from the first row, sew right sides together in order. Press seams towards the dark fabric blocks. Return to strip to layout.
  2. Repeat above for the remaining rows.
  3. Using rows 1 & 2, lay right sides together, matching any seams you can. Sew. Press seam.
  4. Repeat process until all rows are sewn together. You now have a complete quilt top!

Quilting and Finishing!

  1. Layer wadding between quilt top and backing.
  2. Pin or baste layers together.
  3. Machine quilt as desired.
  4. Add binding, mitring corners.
